Free, adorable puppy

Free to a really good home. A 5-6 month-old smart, sweet, active puppy (Tara), part border collie/part unknown. She has been spayed and is current on all shots. She was a rescue puppy fostered lovingly for almost four months. She would love a home with children and/or other animals with a place to run. Comic books and Darwin

Jay Hosler from Juniata College’s Department of Biology will present “Comic Books, Darwin and the ‘E’ Word” Monday, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. in I.G. Greer Auditorium. Hosler is noted for his use of comics to get scientific ideas (and in particular, evolution) across to young students.  His work has been featured on National Public Radio.  His upcoming comic book is titled “Optical Allusions.”

Take a sculpture walk

Brassing Out, a steel, wood and brass sculpture by Shawn Skabelund, is part of the Rosen Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition. The sculpture is located near Broyhill Music Building.

The annual sculpture walk and announcement of the winner of the 22nd Annual Rosen Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition takes place Saturday, July 26, at 10 a.m. at t Catherine J. Creative work by Appalachian employees honored

Appalachian State University photographer Troy Tuttle received a Grand Award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education District III for his photograph “Tricks are for kids” and an Award of Excellence for his photo series “Seven Girls-Seven Dreams.

Patrick Setzer, left, Ann Kiefert and Micki Early were recognized for their work on an Appalachian State University publication for incoming freshmen and transfer students. Celebrating research and scholarly work

Singer Business Ethics & Strategy Vol. 1 & Vol. 11.” Singer, a professor in Appalachian State University’s Department of Management, joined 53 other Appalachian faculty members who published books or completed similar major creative accomplishments during the past year. They were honored at a reception hosted by the Richard T. Barker Friends of the University Library.
