Dr. Melissa S. Weddell, Associate Professor in the Dept. of Recreation Management and Physical Education was selected by the World Leisure Organization to be a visiting scholar during the fall 2016 semester at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, B.C. During her time there she taught a course titled, “Influencing Change Towards Sustainability” in their Masters of Arts Sustainable Leisure Management Program as well as gave a public lecture. In addition, she was part of a three day learning lab in Vancouver, B.C. visiting various social enterprises centered around leisure/recreation that are change agents in the community. Vancouver Island is one of three World Leisure Centers of Excellence and as such supports scholars from all over the world to teach and conduct research.
