Susan King will perform in “The Belle of Amherst” May 17 at 7:30 p.m. and May 18 at 2:30 p.m. at the Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre (SART) in Mars Hill. The one-character play by William Luce is about 19th-century New England poet Emily Dickinson. The play will be presented in Owen Theatre on the Mars Hill College campus. King, coordinator of education and outreach in Appalachian’s Office of Equity, Diversity and Compliance, will reprise the role she first performed in 1978 when the play opened at SART.
